Aus Post Satchels are now being received and collated. (Bump for start of week)

For postal address to send your self addressed Australia Post Satchel(s) to please email me at:

[email protected]

In your email Please state the following essential info:
your "nick" as stated on the purchase list, e.g BribieG, fatgodzilla etc.
your real name as appearing on the bag, as I wouldn't have a clue who Horace Prendergast is whatever

Pls don't PM me to avoid inbox overflows, flood control etc.
As I receive the bags I'll acknowledge by email and also, on this thread, later on in the week, post a progressive list of the ones I have NOT YET received.
To ensure you get the full weight - bearing in mind that Aus Post can be picky if it goes over a few grams - the bag or bags you will need to send are:

Hop order: bag size

1k - 3kg
2k - 3kg
3k - 5kg
4k - 5kg
5k - 5kg plus a 3kg

etc.
You get the idea

When sending the 3kg satchels you will be pleasantly surprised to find that one of them, folded neatly, will fit nicely into an ordinary el cheapo envelope, a bit like the TARDIS. So won't cost you much to send, but if you are sending a 5kg satchel, check the thickness of the envelope at the PO to see if you need to put on an extra stamp. To save me writers cramp could you please enter my name and address in the 'sender' box of the satchel as I will be the official sender when it travels back to you and will provide a central point in case your satchel can't be delivered, for example if you have been rushed off to jail or succumbed to Ebola whatever.

Progress report:

There are 115 orders. 85 emails have been received and replied to asking for address for posting. 7 satchels arrived today from Friday Postings, a good start. Because there will be a number of people helping out on packing day who will be picking up personally then, if we take them out of the equation, there's only about 20 'customers' yet to email me.

Modifying what townsville said in an earlier post, if I have had no response by Wednesday then - considering the excellent results so far - I will email out to get responses. However that will be a once-only, and after that it will be your responsibility to get my address and get bags in, in time for the packing day which approacheth :)

So keep those emails and satchels coming :icon_cheers:

you wont believe it mate, I have all the paperwork BUT the Bill of Lading, and that is the one that has the ship.

That is promised Monday.

As long as the ship isnt Oceanic Viking, or is full of refugees, It should be ok. just as long as it dont pick up any boat people.

BribieG,

Quick question about the express post parcel envelope. I'm assuming you will be signing the Aviation Security Decleration? Otherwise it WILL NOT be sent via air.

Cheers! :icon_cheers:

EDIT:

Note to those of you sending 5KG parcel bags. If the letter is over 5mm thick or over 50g, i was advised by the post office you will require a $1.10 stamp or the larger size pre-paid envelope. I think its C5 and costs $1.30, just so you are aware. The 3kg might be a little easier to squeeze into a smaller envelope. The 5kg ones, signifigantly harder.

I put 3 x 3kg ones into an A4 envolope and showed it to the post office, I needed 2 x 55c stamps.

8 bags received today, one of the 5kg was in an ordinary envelope and arrived ok, the other guys tended to put them in a larger envelope, A5???? and one guy even sent his satchels in a satchel
The 3k bags have arrived in ordinary envelopes and no problems.
Edit: yes that would have been dgilks one. I'm emailing as each batch arrives.
Edit: I'll make sure we sign the declaration.
Cheers Bribie! Did you Enjoy the Bag in an envelope in an envelope? Like a russian nesting doll, or a clown car! :p

There you have it. 3 x 3kg bags will require a $1.10 stamp :)

The anticipation is killing me!

Packing volunteers now required.

After slaughtering an ox and examining the entrails, the intelligence is that the weekend of 28/29 November is beginning to firm up as likely packing dates. Unlikely to be before then, and there is of course the possibility that it may slide to the first week in December.

Clearly a Sunday would be the best day for the pack because the satchels can be on their way the next day. Based on that 'ball park' date could we please now start a new list for volunteers. I would envisage that we start mid morning.

  • First job will be to pack all the hops into 1kg bags, labelling them as we go and place them into five holding bins (existing).
  • Then work our way through orders 1 -> 126 using the packing slips and satchels.
  • The more workers, then the more packing 'lines' we can get going.

If we can get the list firmed up soon, it will also help me with the satchel exercise as, obviously, the workers will be picking up their own hops on the day so I won't be expecting satchels from them. I have taken the liberty of inserting a couple of names who have contacted me in the last couple of days.

I'll be on there tentative. Will 99% be able to get their at some point to help out and that could include the wife as well for an extra set of hands (that's if women are allowed :D ). Though I haven't discussed it with her yet either <_<

Sounds great, as long as everyone is under strict instructions not to call her Mrs^*******

I'll put the workers list into an editable article when I can figure out how to put a link in my sig.

I was going to head down with old Pete, unfortunately I'll be in Adelaide at that time so can't help out.

Just to confirm I'm 99% sure I'll be able to get their at some stage. Doesn't mean if it starts at 7am I'll be there at 6:45am banging on the door. Most likely if it's on a Sunday I'll be travelling back from the northern rivers area, hungover, and not up at the crack of dawn or anything like that. But that said I will be driving past so don't see any issue with going in and lending a hand and all that.

(I don't want to be too confident. Sunday is my pre-ordained hangover day.)

Update: 48 people have now sent bags, so nearly half way there. Not bad effort for 4 days postal deliveries so far.

Note I have put up an article for the list of helpers on the day, see my sig below.

And today's TARDIS AWARD for the biggest satchel sent in the smallest envelope goes to

boom boom tish

BribieG, the real question is 'How much postage did he use on that envelope?'
