Whilst it's true that you don't get stuck sparges with BIAB, a good crush with the "right" husks can cut down on flour. Remember that even though BIAB can handle flour, the flour doesn't magically disappear during mashing - it ends up as the murky protein and general crap in the vessel after lifting the bag. So I assume that even with BIAB you would still get less murk with a more even crush. Also slow lifting does form a grain bed in the bag, so I'd guess that grain bed would form a better filter with a better mill.

I have had my Valley Mill for 13 years now and it's still going strong. One day it's has to stop as is has crushed tonnes of grain now.
Very tempted to jump in on this and put it away for a rainy day.

The flavours in my beer improved and became more distinct when I eliminated the flour sludge from the fermenter. It also adds things that affect beer stability over time, proteins and unreduced starches, among others.

I did think for about 3 seconds to get the mill too but I've got the older mash master mill, with the 63mm diameter rollers. The fluted rollers are probably better than the knurled ones I have, but I can't justify the cost for the new model.

But this came along at the right time as I've been looking at getting this hopper, and with a plate to fit it to my mill (mine is a bit larger in one direction) it should work a treat.

Is the hopper available separately? I've had one of these for a couple of years and it is fantastic, I fabricated my own hopper which goes ok but wouldn't mind the upgrade.
