Brewzilla gen 4 ... Is it possible to mash without the false bottom and the HED plate?

I wanted to make a BIAB type wort, with a bag of grains inside the mash tube

Yes that would be no problem. If you are using a BIAB bag similar to this then nothing that can pass through the bag can get blocked in the pump.

With that said I find the false bottom screen really handy if you start to use heaps of hops. If you use loads of hops in the boil this can definitely block the pump. So when you pull out the malt pipe how much hops do you want to add?

Thanks....I usually make IPA...just an addition of bitterness with hop spider

Quote..clickeral Wouldn't you want the false bottom to stop the bag getting burnt by the element?

I tried this with the gen 3.1 and it buckled the false bottom due to the weight of grains.

Heavy duty false bottom would help this.
