Folks,

I have a leak around the thread of my Micromatic regulator bottle pressure guage (the one on the left that tells you how much gas is left in your gas bottle). I want to unscrew the guage so I can check the o-rings etc, but it is on really tight. Before I wreck it, can anybody tell me whether the guage unscrews clockwise or counter-clockwise?

Thanks - Snow.

not sure how the gauge come off but rather than pulling the thing apart and possibly destroying it what about whacking some silicone around it and see if that helps, if not you can always peel off the silicone and then try and take it apart. Also if it's fairly new it might be worth bringing it back to where you bought it from and seeing if they can fix/replace it and if its not new they might be able to point you in the right direction.

Good Luck

Aaron

Snow,

I don't have a Micromatic regulator but it should have the same threading as any other reg. (Mine has right hand threads).
Just undo it by turning anti-clockwise. If you have any CRC or similar a TINY squirt into the thread should help loosen unless Locktite or a similar product has been used. A couple of turns of gas threadseal (Yellow) around the thread before re-tightening should stop the leak.

That's it TP, it will be right hand thread. It would have some type of sealant on the thread making it harder to unscrew (sometimes it helps to make a scarey face when trying to undo tight threads)

Old fitters trick hey Pete?

+1 with TP and Batz

I find a short sharp blow with a rubber mallet is enough to loosen it.

Cheers

Hi Jeff,

I hope he is not out in the shed busting his "you know what valve" trying to undo that sucker.

Anyone got his phone no?????

Cheers

Oh crap! I even looked at mine! Had a second look and slapped myself on the forehead! Sorry Snow!

****, f**&k, bugger and other tourettes noises, ordered one from the states a couple of weeks ago, checked with someone who said that it would be RHT <_<

Screwy

Ha ha thanks guys! Lucky I was away from the PC for a bit before whacking it the wrong way with my rubber mallet!

Cheers - Snow
