Evening gents, got home from work a little while ago all keen to see if my kegs had carbed up ok using the set and forget method. Well to my horror I seen the digital temp gauge reading -4 something or rather. A quick check and i found some bottles had started to freez, as quick as I could I change my gas and beer lines over to try and pour and hope I don't get a snow cone. It started to pour ok but then I noticed some frosting in the glass. I have put the fridge on a timer until the temprature controller I just brought arrives. So you can guess what my question is going to be after all that, is the beer in my kegs still ok.

when you say"frosting in the glass"do you mean ice or cloudy?have froze a keg once came out ok after leaving out of fridge for a couple of days degassing then recarbed ,did have a slight chill haze but ont know if this was caused by the freezing

It will be fine. Just let it be (don't drain any) until they come up above 0C and there's no problem at all. If you want to know what an eis beer is like, go ahead and pull a few pints from the frozen kegs. The unfrozen, superconcentrated beer under the ice is eisbeer. This is how eisbock is made.

Thanks guys, thought it might be ok just wanted to check as of is a lot of beer to waste. Oh and might have to try a glass of the unfrozen stuff, sounds yummy.

Cheers
Glen
