A little later than usual but I began the arduous task of case consumption last night...

Internet is speed limited at home right now so this is all from memory...

No3. Snow's Green Tea Rice Lager
Clarity was pretty good. Probably could have done with a little more settling but was close enough.
Nice golden colour.
Carbonation was a little lacking, not much but it meant the head was pretty short lasting.
My wife found the aroma a little odd but I couldn't detect anything strange.

Body was good, although seemed a little slick due to the lower carbonation.
Good combination of flavours with the green tea not dominating. Overall a balanced beer to me.
Essentially I found this to be a very drinkable beer, and it certainly went well with laksa, but I'd like to try it from the tap or better carbed.
The lower carbonation just took the edge of everything for me, even before the I lost my taste buds for the second half of the bottle...

Ah... sorry about the carbonation. I did a 25L batch and was kind of guessing on the amount of dextrose to put in the bottling bucket.

Good idea about using PET bottles so those with carb caps can give the carb a lift if required.

I just knew that bloody thing was good for something :D

Just drinking Batz' red ale. Gorgeous maroon hue, crystal clear. Creamy white head, with a malty aroma and a touch of toffee. smooth malty, crisp flavour with a good bitterness that lingers. A little bit of alcohol on the back palate. Mate this is a grand beer - well done! A delicious ale that I could drink all night.

Cheers - Snow.

+1 Had the Batz Ale last night before the work Xmas party..... Made the Pure Blonde and XXXX Gold that we had taste even worse than ever.... Bloody nice beer Batz! Any chance of a recipe mate???

Cheers

Bonj's APA
Good pale colour at the light end of the style. Carbonation was spot on. Good head to accompany that.

Aroma was there but slightly muted.
Reasonably strong hop flavour. I wouldn't have gone any bigger hop wise for the body and balance of this beer.
Overall a very drinkable APA.

I got a slight stale/odd flavour at the end of the mouthful that I've tasted before so I looked up the recipe this morning.

Either a little crystal would have been good in this to provide a little more background to the hops, which I do think still, or I am really not a fan of amarillo.
It was a slight taste that I have detected in all amarillo beers before. Previously I thought it meant that I always liked amarillo blended with something but perhaps I just don't like it at all, or at least always detect this flavour at the end.

It wasn't a major taste, it didn't really detract from the overall beer, but it was there, to me at least.

Thanks for the review, Ben. I'm glad the carbonation was good as it was bottled from the keg and the carbonating side of it wasn't exactly orthodox. My co2 bottle ran out, so I used a gutted soda stream (no reg).

I agree with your assessment of the aroma. I stuffed up by putting the dry hops in too early and most of it was scrubbed by the yeast.

15 Honey Blonde ale Stillscottish

Pours a nice golden colour with a good head, although it faded quickly.

I got a slight fruity aroma with malt underneath.

Initial bitterness is good then a sweet taste in the rest of the mouthful. Which become more evident as the beer warms up.

I really like this beer. Just a good summer drinking beer.

I tried on of my "Fosters with Frog Spawn" today to see how well carbed they were and was supprised to find it right for drinking. So give them ago at your lesiure or wait till chrissy.

FROGMAN.....

Screwy's Red Ale

Poured a little under-carbonated for me,quite clear and cleared more as it warmed.
I loved the first taste of the US hops but found the malt over took this quickly.I know this is a 'not to style' beer but I would like a bit more late hop flavor.

This was a beer I was looking forward to and enjoyed a lot. It's on my to brew list.
Very nice as always Mike.

Snows Green Tea Lager

I found a little under carbonated but still poured a nice head.
Really different and nice beer this one,I could have easily downed several more of these. It was quite cloudy and I'll love to see this beer polyed and filtered.
By the way the wife said she liked this one too.

Nice beer Snow

That carbonation issue that others have already mentioned is definitely low. It was there briefly but then nothing.
I found this to be an interesting beer, but a little unbalanced in the bittering which seemed a bit high. Either reduce the bittering, or increase the green tea flavour, I'd be leaning towards doing the later.

Overall, this is a great summer beer thirst quencher.

Batz Pender Creek Ale
I tried this while out to dinner after the Babbs Xmas party so my review is as follows...

Nice red colour.
Very tasty beer.

Sorry. Someone else will have to go the detail on this one :)

Batz Pender Creek Ale

Dark brown and poured with a really nice thick creamy head. Carbonation was medium with nicely balance bitterness.
Quite malty, and some warming alcohol. This beer reminds me of a Scottish Ale, not that I've had much experience with Scottish Ales before.

Found this beer to be a really nice sipper, and enjoyed the whole bottle. SWMBO had a few sips and enjoyed the flavour, until the alcohol kicked in. I expected that to happen though.

Snow's Green Tea Rice Lager

From the pour (and I agree with others) the carbonation was down, but I think soft carbonation suited it.
I thought the hops were great but there wasn't enough green tea flavor to balance it up, but I could have had a good session on it no trouble at all.

I'm not real good at reviews and all that, but here goes. This is pretty much what I wrote down last night while drinking this.

Screwy's Red Ale

aroma: malt
flavour: malt and hops. slight malt dominance, but fairly balanced. delicious

no flaws. I don't care what style this isn't, it's a flavoursome malty ale and is just delicious.

I could easily have this one on tap, Screwy. Thanks for a great beer. It went really well with the whole snapper for dinner.
