No3. Snow's Green Tea Rice Lager
Poured pretty good and clear, carbonation was at the low end but not too bad, but as pointed out many times the head was quickly vanishing. Initial flavour was good but I wasn't a fan of the green tea flavour/aroma. Should have really had another one to give it a fair assessment - but not straight after a litre of that blueberry concoction of mine  .

Screwtop's Red Ale:

Just drinking Batz' red ale. Gorgeous maroon hue, crystal clear. Creamy white head, with a malty aroma and a touch of toffee. smooth malty, crisp flavour with a good bitterness that lingers. A little bit of alcohol on the back palate. Mate this is a grand beer - well done! A delicious ale that I could drink all night.

Cheers - Snow.
a big +1 from me for this one Batz

Snows Green Tea Lager

I found a little under carbonated but still poured a nice head.
Really different and nice beer this one,I could have easily downed several more of these. It was quite cloudy and I'll love to see this beer polyed and filtered.
By the way the wife said she liked this one too.

Nice beer Snow

Batz

And for Snows Green Tea Lager, the girls liked this one here too.

Screwy's Red Ale

Poured a little under-carbonated for me,quite clear and cleared more as it warmed.
I loved the first taste of the US hops but found the malt over took this quickly.I know this is a 'not to style' beer but I would like a bit more late hop flavor.

This was a beer I was looking forward to and enjoyed a lot. It's on my to brew list.
Very nice as always Mike.

Batz

I'm not real good at reviews and all that, but here goes. This is pretty much what I wrote down last night while drinking this.

Screwy's Red Ale

aroma: malt
flavour: malt and hops. slight malt dominance, but fairly balanced. delicious

no flaws. I don't care what style this isn't, it's a flavoursome malty ale and is just delicious.

I could easily have this one on tap, Screwy. Thanks for a great beer. It went really well with the whole snapper for dinner.

Sorry about the carbonation, was bottled from the keg after a week of topping up the pressure every time I was back at the coast house. The carbonation suffered a bit.

Batz Pender Creek Ale

presented well with a nice ruby colour and a large densely packed big head. Carbonation on this bottle was up the high end, resulting in a prickly mouthfeel that slightly distracted from the malty body, once that had subsided it was a real nicely malty ale. Thanks Batz!

Well, I'm bloody hopeless at reviewing beers, but tough luck dudes, here goes for the first two.

Batz Pender Creek Ale

This beer poured with a huge off white head that lasted all the way to the bottom of the glass. Colour was a light amber/red and clarity of the beer was good with a medium/high carbonaton. I found the aroma to consist of malt. Bitterness was nicely balanced with the malt by way of the dark grains used, I didn't detect any late hopping. Overall a good malty beer.

Snow's Ching Chong Chinaman Lager

I was expecting an undercarbed beer, but unlike others, when I poured this beer I found quite a lot of head rising in the glass. This died away quickly though to leave a small white cover over a somewhat cloudy pale/gold body with medium/light carbonation. There was little aroma that I could detect. Upon tasting I found to blend of hop, malt and tea to be of such that none stood out and all combined to produce one flavour, it was a flavour that I liked and thought at the time it would make a great thirst quencher on a hot afternoon, not unlike today. Where is another.

cheers

Lads, mine should be OK to drink now. Not sure how the carbonation will be, but hopefully OK

Cheers

Screwtops Red Ale

Dunno if you really need any feedback on this one but - poured a deep ruby red, generous head considering it'd been bottled from keg. Tasty malt driven body with a slight crystal malt note in the finish, very good beer.

StillScottish's Honey Blond

A beer that hasn't improved since I had one (or two) at Campbells, luckly it was good then as now. It'd make a good sessional I'd think - reasonably light body with a hit of honey in aroma and in the finish. Nice one mate, much better than that Bees Knees crap.

A little after the fact but I second what others have said about Screwy's Red. A nice malty beer. I was thinking mine had a slight fruitiness that I couldn't quite place but then it wouldn't be there the next mouthful, which would be all malt, and then it would.
Still, as my wife said it was fairly close to what she remembered of Smithwicks, (although our Ireland trip was fairly hazy :)...) and that makes it about as good an Irish red as you can get in my book :)

Rootin Saison
Again reviewed a little after consumption...
Great pale colour with plenty of carbonation, the first glass had a lot of head.
I loved the tart finish to this beer. It had a nice light but not thing body to it and was certainly not tasting like a nearly 7% beer.
I had one of mine not long after and I definitely preferred the finish to yours winkle.

Screwy's red ale

Poured with a small off white head, a crystal clear beer with malty aroma. Carbonation was medium and malt to the fore on the tongue. Excellent drop Screwy.

cheers

Screwy's red ale

Poured with a lovely head that lasted all the way to the bottom of Jimmyjack's pint glass.
Clear as, with a lovely colour.
Beautiful malt and burnt toffee flavour (in a good way - see next comments) which balanced well with the hops.
A sensational drop at 0100 this morning after a long day at work.

I didn't feel like going to bed just yet so I thought - there's a Bridge Road Brewery Celtic Red Ale in the fridge from my recent trip down south, it'll be interesting to compare them.
It was full of flavour alright; lemon juice, boiled cabbage and burnt toffee/rubber (in a bad way).
A bit of a disappointment as I had every other one of their beers and they were all bloody good.

Which brings me to an interesting point (for me). I find it hard to describe good beer. It's just good. But I find it easy to describe a bad beer.

I guess I'll just have to practice more. :chug:

Batz Pender Creek Ale

Tried one today, this beer is now over carbonated, drink it soon.

Winkle's Rootin' Saison
This beer poured with a kick-ass fluffy white head. Moderately clear.
I don't know if it is because of my love of sour beers is increasing, but I wish it had just a little more kick to it in the flavour and aroma. Otherwise quite a good drink.
Due to the low sourness, SWMBO found this to be a very nice beer.

Jayandcath's Raspberry Ale
Much like Winkles saison this also poured with a very light fluffy head. Fantastic red-orange hue, with a slight cloudiness.
Mild tartness, with the carbonation giving it extra sharpness. Finishes dry. Raspberry comes through perfectly.
Ben: I think you have some competition in the sour fruit category :p . I think I might attempt something like this for SWMBO's next gluten free beer.

Yes....I needed a spoon to correct the carbonation..

But then again I had a 2 hr argument with the ride-on lawn mower ( mower 1 - Stu 0 )

But I did enjoy it, loved the flavour and it made me calm down enough that I only kicked the F^%&ing mower once on my way back to the house.

Thanks Bats for saving my mower... ;)

Thanks for the feedback guys, the batch of saison I've currently got on tap ATM is a slightly stronger 7.4% ABV version with some cumin powder added, fermented a touch higher and is a ballsier beer alround. Next batch I'll be raising the temp to about 25 C toward the end of fermentation to get more funk, good yeast this Farmhouse stuff. :super:

A couple more after the fact reviews.

NickBs Nelson Lager
Good pale colour. Excellent carbonation.
Body was a good level with a slightly fruity finish from the hops. Bitterness was well balanced for the beer.
I really liked this beer.

17 - Kiwi_Gregs whatever it is
Pale gold in colour. Carbonation was enthusiastic, like out of the glass enthusiastic.
Definite strange aroma.
Essentially if this was a saison or similar then you had a nice beer, otherwise mine was infected.
Definite sour finish which I actually quite liked but it was kind of hard to know if I had a saison or a pilsner in the early stages of the infection...

05 - Batz Pender Creek Grenade
+1 to the comments above. I thoroughly enjoyed this beer. I put it in the fridge last week, and it was still very highly carbonated, so it seems plastic was a good choice, eh.

Very well balanced with the high carbonation which drifted to the malty side as the fizz subsided and the temperature warmed. A lovely beer with Herb and mustard encrusted lamb racks.

Jayandcath's Raspberry Ale

Poured into a tasting tulip - reasonably bright red/dark pink with a medium densely packed white head. Sweetish raspberry syrup aroma and initially quite sweet on the first sip, thankfully a light sourness crept into the back-end of the palate to balance with out being puckering in any way. Quite more-ish by the end of the bottle, good on a hot night and would be even better at a beach picnic lunch.

18 - Bonj - APA
Poured a hazy yellow gold colour, with a generous head. Good bitterness but a little less flavour and aroma than I'd expect from the style. That said this was still a enjoyable beer, citrussy flavours and the tropical fruit and stonefruit (apricot?) aromas were still there making this more of a sessional than a hop bursting monster (which isn't necessarily a bad thing) cheers.
:) Pocket Beers - Dark Ale
These things are always a tricky balancing act between bitterness and sweetness. This one treaded the line pretty well, reasonable bitterness, small head and a deep brown colour. Can't add much more due to eating some bloody hot salami while drinking it, had to eat some wasibi peas to clear my palate.

I cracked my SAAZ ale 2 days ago.... :(

No where near carbonated and tastes a bit sweet, and was very cloudy. The hopps came thru and almost had a LC Bright Ale taste..

Might need to leave this for a few more weeks.

I think the yeast ( US 56) I was using is getting very old and starting to spoil my beers. I dont think it is infected as I bombed EVERYTHING with bleach ( tun, kettle, jugs, spoons, ferm, hoses, new taps...everything exept the mill ) then soaked averything in Nappi-San

So I would be interestd to know if it turns out OK after a few more good weeks of conditioning...

Drinking yours tonight Stu.
Cloudy yes, a tad sweet perhaps but not really. Nice hop flavour with a little malt underneath.
Very nice beer on a hot summer Brisbane night.
Would have liked to taste it perhaps in a few weeks with a little more carbonation underneath it but it's a very drinkable beer to kick off my christmas break :)
