Just upping mine to 2. Is there a date this BB is open until or a target number of interest? Thanks for organising!

Hi folks. Can I use this on the kegking pressure ferment fitting. The one with the gold tshape brass pipe and pressure dial. Can't tell if the bit after the dial unscrews or I have to detach the piece the dial is attached to.

Yes you can. Either get an adapter from Bunnings BSP to NPT or just put some thread tape around it and screw it in.
Didn't you buy a couple last time around?

This might be the case but we have seen many customers using spunding valves which end up getting clogged up with dried beer wort. I am not sure what these customers are doing but we see it frequently. I gues our belief is that anything that can be connected to the fermenter should really be possible for it to be easily dissasembled and cleaned. The real problem is the pressure gauge as you have pointed out.

For a really sanitary pressure gauge you really need to use a diaphragm pressure gauge. But these are quite expensive and we would normally only use these on the large commercial conical fermenting tanks. So we dont really have any option but to use a capillary pressure gauge.
Just a random thought.

You could use T20 type guage port fittings with a short test line to a T20 or G1/2 (bsp) guage and fill the line with alcohol so you still get pressure reading but the guage internals and test line are effectively in alcohol the whole time, negating any contamination issue.

The T20 fittings are self sealing, basically a check valve that is opened by screwing the female fitting on and common on industrial hydraulics, pirtec, enzed, hydraulink or any hydraulic ship should be able to supply, also available in stainless.

Have to pay a bit of money but you can have a pseudo isolated guage.

I keep my valve and gauge well away from the fermentation just by using the manifold, and it keeps it cheap.

True, you can achieve the same thing without the test fittings like you are doing. Doing know what the stainless versions cost but theyre so ubiquitous it's not going to brake the bank. An isolation valve on the guage would prevent constant exposure too but I guess that just adds yet another component to maintain and clean, at least the guage can be removed without pressure loss if required.

Thanks, I bought a couple of PRVs last time, but only just got around to using one. I have now screwed that into my kegking spunding adapter, replacing the prv that was on it. For my second prv, where’s a good place to get an adaptor to fit between the prv and a MFL disconnect on the keg? This is probably a faq :)

Bunnings, see moonheads post number 50 in this thread. (page 3)

I have put this up in various places but there are others who may not have seen it, a cheaper way of closed vessel fermentation.

I use a manifold to house the PRV and the gauge, vent gas 1st day before applying pressure, I try and keep mine at 17 - 20 kPa. Using the empty cube as a secondary transfer through the taps at the bottom, shut off PRV open valves to equalise the pressure between the cubes and transfer.

12 days after going into secondary, a lovely English bitter being poured with co2 which was produced while under fermentation, smoother and tastier, poured from a Bunnings plastic tap direct from the cube.
