  • My only 2 kegs blew over the weekend and nothing in the fermenter. Yeast on the stir plate that I do not think is alive :(

Will hopefully get there Friday Midnight, I'll send you a message :) Thanks a million, you could be a beer lifesaver.

I also panicked and just bought some fresh yeast to get a brew going tonight. Just in case the yeast on the stirplate doesn't take off. If it does, ill get the second cube going as well :)

Well, did you collect? Have we beer?
Bought a Keg King pump and then proceeded to break the head screwing the valve tap onto it. ****! Hadn't even used it yet.

@Cocko, You mean we were once friends! I'm touched. And by touched, I mean, you touched me. I'll get my doll to show the authorities where.

Something is not right here, Nullnvoid living at “Cock or two”, “Cock oh” being his friend, dolls (so that’s what the co2 is for) mmmm, bit of a worry.
It's been over 6 months since my last brew days. And I still have 4 cubes needing fermenting. I knew that three months not drinking wasn't a good idea :(

Hahaha, no I don't want to bottle so have some kegging questions as I nearly have all I need.....Best I start a "wtf am I doing" kegging thread

    Good one, pay that.
I think I'll save up next for kegging gear. I think I'l like kegging

Yeah that's what I was thinking. Clever Brewing seem to do a well priced starter kit, been looking at that.

On a serious note, the plastic picnic taps, especially with a curly hose give a fantastic pour and when you get good at it, you can alter the flow with how open the tap is.

I think that's what the CB kit comes with, so good to know :)
Going to the outback next week, shouldn't really take bottles. Don't have a lot of cashola and anything decent in cans is expensive!
Don't want to speak too soon, but there is a chance I might actually get to the Melbourne Brewers meeting tonight. Fingers crossed!

Haha that would have been a bad idea. I went. Not a huge showing, actually very disappointing at the lack of people there

I almost had to do the same thing with my daughter :)
Step 1:buy grain mill, Step 2: wait 2 months before being able to attach it to a board, Step 3: Wait another 1.5 months until you get grain. Yep sounds about right. Bring on May!

Use the wait time spinning yeast...

Funny you should say that Yob, I got a whole lot of out of date yeasts from Home Make It the other day and that's the plan :)
Soooo.....it looks like Yob may be onto something. I thought my amber ale was fermented out after 5 days (not quite 4 days), so tested it. Left it another 2 weeks and it's still the same.
Grr, wanted some 1272 for tomorrow and no home brew shops that I can find close by have any! Annoying

You home tomorrow? :) Got an unplanned day off :)

Na sorry mate, I'll see if I can find it tonight, you'd still need to spin it up though so not sure if timing would suit

Cool thanks, let me know how you go tonight and we can go from there. It's the spinning I wanted to start tomorrow now I have the stirplate. Easier to find time when I have the day off to give new things a try.

Its not often I hear that said around here....
    or at home....
    or at work....

Actually I dont think those words have ever been in the same sentence before.

    Happy Birthday mate

Thanks Grumpy! Although it makes less sense now you have re done your status, but I guess I still agree for now :)

I can only see the last three replies, because somethings buggered up, so thanks for the well wishes, you haters can keep on hating and to the person who said that thing, you can't say that!
Reading about freezing yeast. Is it really as easy as it sounds? As my upper body is already down the rabbit hole we know as "brewing", I may as well get the rest of me down. Also another opportunity for SHMBO to roll her eyes at me.

Why is a deep freezer better? I think I am slowly convincing that the one little freezer on the fridge is not enough, even just for food, let alone beer stuffs as well.

    Work in progress :)

Frost free cycles temp, you 'can' do things about it, but much easier just to use a deep freezer
Got impatient and cracked open a Rye Pale Ale a week early than I was intending. Perfectly carbed. And **** me, sensational. Why would you buy beer when you can create liquid gold like this.
Finally after 2 months the hummock ale has finished fermenting and is bottled! Now I can replenish on normal drinking stock, which will hopefully be ready by Christmas.

Finished at 1.019. And it was on the slurry of 1084 from a stout I had just finished. Every time I checked it, it kept going down by a couple of points, and this was a week in-between checks. I should have bottled it a week ago but things came up so I cold crashed it.

Got a Rye Pale Ale in the fermenter now. Should be bottled and ready in time! Just!
4 brews worth of grain cracked today (thanks Breakbeer). Tomorrow the missus leaves on her holiday with the young one, so let the brewing begin!
The girlfriend and baby are going away for a few days in a couple of weeks. As much as I will miss them, boy am I going to crank out several cubes!

    Mr B
Just dont admit the excitement, you will miss them terribly......
    Nullnvoid

Ohh I will miss them for sure. No doubt about it. But as I am struggling to do anything at the moment it will be good to fill the cubes so that all the hard work is done :)

Ohh and I haven't and won't be mentioning that I am brewing brewing brewing to SHMBO :)
Next 5 brews planned.....now to find the time!

Yep! But now at least I have all of the ingredients, so that's a start. And I think SHMBO is going away for a couple of days in the next couple of weeks. Might have a few late nights to get some brews down!
