Granted i know this is a real old post but i just got to reply.

I must say reading posts about areas in aussie or nz, the only time it seems usefull is when pictures are included, so cheers for chucking some up.
I'm a young homebrewer living in NZ Hamilton to be specific, north island hour under Auckland, and it's interesting reading your posts on NZ, seems as though NZ hops are quite sort after, interesting as being new to the sport i'm not appreciating whats available here.....

Good to see ya hitting the brewhouse's and sounds like ya had a killer trip with plenty of hospitality, although your first pic with the sheep is cold seems like everyone but NZ cares about sheep, nobody here even gives a toss.

Your new world (supermarket beer selection) pics make even me jealous, our new world has a good selection maybe half that.... But we'd still have to hit a local brewshop/wineshop for something special.

My major interest in posting is to check prices??? I've worked with aussies who say that prices there are crazy?

Whats beer really worth? Here's the nz prices in nz dollars.

If beers on your average supermarket special eg. a price you would actually buy it. It would be

Waikato, Speights, Lion Red, Tui, Export Gold. ($12-14 a Doz) Crappy beers!
Mac's brewery beers ($15 a doz) Decent Beer!
Mac's brewery beers ($18-20 a 15box)
Monteiths Brewery Black, original, gold etc ($18-20 a Doz) Very Nice NZ
Tiger, Oranjeboom, Miller, Kingfisher ($15-18 a doz)
Corona ($20 a doz)
Hoegaarden ($9-14 a 4 pack)
Kroenenberg ($14-16 a 6 pack)
EPIC ($18-20 a 6 pack) Awesome Hoppy NZ beer.

Your thoughts?

Oh and tap beers normally $4-8 depending on how good per glass/handle
