A canister one. The new ones are fine - about 3 years ago they were withdrawn from sale around Australia because some joker in Casino (down the road from where I live) blew up his caravan and himself because he didn't follow instructions. If you ever visit Casino and see the locals you won't be surprised at what happened.

So they redesigned the stove and they are now widely available again. I use mine for cereal mashes, general boiling in the brewhouse. I seem to remember that a RdeVjun and quite a few other forum members have used them to do Big W 18L stockpot brews as well. Certainly up to the job, one stove does the job of any normal gas ring on a fixed stove.

Bunnings do canisters in four packs for about $1.20 per canister.

Bergbräu Beer 6 x 330ml $15

Assorted. Never heard of them, they look a bit like Flensburg bottles. Will give them a go when I'm past Aldi on Friday.

edit: apparently popped up on this current thread a year ago, missed them. Drinkable apparently.

Yep a big electric hot plate has allowed me to move activities to the garage instead of the kitchen.

Edit: On this topic - I can do full brew day with a couple jerry cans filled with water in the garage (Strike, mash, sparge, boil) on a single hot plate.

The only thing I can't do down there is cool the wort (I don't have a tap in the garage with running water) - so I usually lug the hot boiled wort up to the laundry. I suspect the best answer for this is to move to no chill?
Where can you buy a large single hot plate with plenty of power.

I bought one from RT Edwards a few years ago, it was about 2000W. I sold it at a garage sale because quite frankly I prefer the gas.

Most of the current ones seem to be about 1600W but should do the job heating stockpots etc.

Whatever the answer is, and no-chill is a good one, stop lugging hot wort around. We want you drinking beer and posting on AHB, both of which are hard to do from the burns ward.

Or hoses? I use a long hose to run from one of my rainwater taps to the immersion chiller in my brewing area. Another hose to run the warm side water into a gutter where it flows back into the tanks.

And to keep it on topic - Aldi sells hoses several times a year.

How far is the nearest tap from your garage? Couldn’t you run a potable water hose with a ball valve for filling and chilling?

I built a portable sink unit with an old kitchen sink top and simple 2’’x3’’ frame. Used a potable water hose from Aldi to connect to the nearest tap. I just use a 20L pail under the waste outlet.

About 10 metres to a garden tap. Good idea, would have to run it out the front door of the house though...

Chaps getting off topic, more appropriate to a brewing gear thread.

Tis on topic though. Showing and discussing how I used my Aldi special potable water hose to plumb in a brewing sink. When they come back on special I’m going to get another to fix my busted counterflow chiller.

agreed.back on topic please.

My understanding was that when you changed the topic of this thread from specifically discussing Bar Keepers Friend to Aldi Specials, all Aldi specials and their brew related use are on topic.

Is that correct or can only current Aldi specials be discussed here? Have I missed something else?

current and upcoming specials please. that is what this thread is for. if you want to discuss what you have built please start a thread in the right section.
as for your accusations. get your facts straight. i am not the anti christ nor am i responsible for everything that gets changed on this forum. there are other mods and admins here. you have been warned about personal attacks on me previously, it didn't go well last time and it won't go well this time if you continue.

It wasn’t meant as a personal attack, and I didn’t say you are the anti Christ. In fact I’ve been told by mutual friends that you are not as you come across in your replies, but if you recall we discussed it earlier in the thread and it was indeed you that changed the title to include all Aldi specials.

If you now want the thread to be only about current and upcoming specials that’s fine. Thanks for letting me know.

Point taken, S.E. I'll look out for that hose again because I might need to get my R.O. system going again if we have a dry summer.

just bought a fridge from ALDI, 239L, fit 2 kegs perfectly. but the only place for the co2 gas bottle (2.6kg) is the small circle area. I was wondering any idea on how to hold the bottle not dropping off?

For the base, collecting some waste cuttings about 20mm thick and 140mm wide from bunnings along with double sided tape can do the job, but what about the side? Can't drill any hole because of 3 years warranty and SWMBO.
