Looks Awesome Paul!!!! :super:
making me rethink my plans for the Coldroom panels i have lying around..

If i can offer one piece of advice...
I have used quite a few of the same type of latch you have used on your door..
They start out quite stiff but after a while they tend to become quite loose and flop around a bit..
I'm just having visions of the wind or something slamming the door shut and that latch hooking on while your inside...
it may never happen.. but if/when it does.. i hope Mrs Paulb isn't on holidays for 3weeks with the gardening club..
Perhaps a strong magnetic latch???

Just a thought.. ;)

Sqyre...
i'll just make sure i take my mobile in with me just incase that wind blows :D
cheers paul

Thats bloody beautiful Paul,

.....In hind-sight... as long as the conical is full getting locked in may not be a bad thing..(except for the Co2)
....and think about to have an emergency switch off of the cooling device inside the room!

drinking beer makes more fun when its hot around you :p

Paul, that's fantastic. What size is your conical?

Cheers.

hi duff 31 gallons its been about a 6 month project with building the conical that i got from neville at gryphon brewing all it needs is a polish on the inside and some end caps welded onto the legs with thread welded onto the top to clamp the lid down. it will be good to finally get it going .
cheers paul

Looks fantastic Paul, :super: well done. how about some pics of the rest of your set up, looks like there's some other S/S bling from the photos.

cheers Ross

Top job Paul.

After seeing your awesome effort (and the small price it cost), I'm thinking a coolroom would be a great replacement for my 1100 litre chest freezer that died a couple of weeks ago.
Anyone know of a similar source of panels in Sydney in lines with the price Paul paid ?

Doc

Doc, just speak to any fridgies you know, they usually are able to get their hands on panels that are being scrapped quite easily. Trying ringing a local fridgie - or if you have no luck i can ask a mate of mine for you.

I know you were probably joking, but it might not work in there with the door shut.

You have made my day, seeing what you have achieved in 6 months that would have taken me , well a lot longer. Looks so good. How do you find the time to paint? I can see you going commercial next? Brewing not painting that is.

hi nev i was going to do it all after the wedding in march next year but couldn't wait , glad i did it before the wedding so when i come back from the honey moon i'll be hanging for a brew. tested it again today got it down to 3 deg i am not going to be running those temp plan is to brew lagers in winter
so on hot summer days we can save a bit on power
cheers paul

Just put a wingnut on the interior of the hinge and you can get yourself out.

Hi Paul,
I think there is a guy selling off-cuts of fridge panels in perth somewhere, he also has all the bits and pieces to do the job and its very affordable.
Will try to track my mate down who has the details and see is I can post that here next week sometime.

cheers amita
Try the Perth ice works. Corner of Leach Hwy and Welshpool Rd. They had heaps of decent sized (new) offcuts when I was there 2 weeks back.

Ranging from $4-$6 a piece (1200mmx800mm were $4 IIRC)

I was going to make a kegerator from it until I discovered an old chest freezer...

that is where i got mine from, bob or bernie will help you out, mine were around 2200mm x 700 for $10 - $12

Hey Paul,
When you start running for long periods... with a brew in it..
Can you make a not of how often your aircon kicks in and out and for how long..
I would be interested to know as i have a small aircon in my bedroom i'm thinking of pulling out..
Problem with it is it costs a fortune to run in the room.. (but it runs full bickie all day)
I would like to know how much power yours uses...(before i build mine.. :p )

Sqyre... ;)

sqyre i'll be doing a brew in a week or two a ale at 20 deg . when i tested it yesterday it was 32 deg and got it down to 3 deg but the temp did rise up again to 7deg within the 9 minute mashmaster delay for the compressor . i think if it was full of kegs or fermenter with liquid at running temps it would be more stable. i will keep you informed
cheers paul

Anyone know of a place like this in Sydney? I've been unsuccessfully looking for one for a while :(

have you tried places that make coolrooms as the ones in perth are only cut outs from the door way.
and they sell them cheap instead of throwing them out
cheers paul

try these guys, I think it was them I was speaking to when I was going to build my own.

But now my Christmas job is piping up the evaporator and condenser (and separate glycol reservoir)to my 1.7Mx1x1 box.
