Yep, will get a strarter going soon, for sure. Although I just instected the yeast, and its smells strongly like beer now, but still not heading tawards a markedly 'off' aroma - I would think (no experience though) that if it had gobe bad then the smell would be unbearably rank and I would be seeing signs of bacterial growth - neither of which are present. There are a few bumps on the surface, but I put that down to occasional bubbling in the bottle.

Usually get the same with my larger amounts of yeast and had no problem. I also put it down to the occasional bubble, particularly when the yeast is settling. Found it more so in the Nottingham.
