I have a couple of recipes for making an English Bitter that calls for Muntons Light dried malt extract. This is proving hard to source without paying very high prices and shipping from overseas. So the question is what would be a good substitute?

Any quality extract will do, if you use a liquid extract use 20% more as it contains 20% water.
Coopers/Morgan's LME and DME, the liquid and dry from Briess and the Black Rock range are all good if not the same.
Muntons does have a unique character, I suppose they all do really, what you like and the type of beer you are making would be a good starting point, you will just have to try a few and see which you prefer, or just bite the bullet and go AG, then you will have hundreds of choices.
