Hey all,
Im about to bottle my cider tonight.
I have a question with priming.
I want it fizzy fizzy, being a cider, but without the explosions!
Ill be using white sugar and priming individually using the measure thing (pic below)
The bottles im using are the old style reffilable bottles, bigger then 330ml. Id say at a guess 380ml? (pic below)
The measure has 3 options .33 .5 .75 which should i use?

Thanks

Use the small scoop, it will still give you good carbonation. Alternatively, pop to your LHBS and grab some carb drops and use one per bottle.

Either option will give you a good level of fizz.

Using the larger scoops makes the risk of explosions a little high for my liking.

I use the following website/calculator:

http://www.brewersfriend.com/beer-priming-calculator/

(apologies if linking is a no-no).

I like my ciders much fizzier than my beers, so I look around 4.0-4.5 volumes of CO2 as a final result. The calculator above gives you a residual CO2 reading based on the temp of the cider, and gives you the required weight of priming sugar required. I use it for bulk priming calculations, then divide it down to bottle volume if priming by bottle.
