Not sure if this has been covered before but after reading through the worst beers, I am wanting to know whats your favourite commercial beer.
Let it be obscure
Let it be common
Let it be hard to find
Though others think its rotten

Be it Light
Be it Dark
A yeasty Beer that makes you Fart

A beer that when
Is seen in hand
Makes you shout
IT IS NOT SWILL
IT IS NOT BLAND :)

Fullers ESB
JSGA - going downhill thou and much better on tap
Anything at the James Squires Brewhouse at Darling Harbour :icon_drool2:

I had some of the German Megaswill at the Oktoberfest and it
leaves our crap for dead.
However the best is any fresh German Wheat beer, It is to die for over there
BS

why isa it every time one of these threads comes up, people feel obliged to give us thier top ten.

state your fave brew, and why, otherwise I will cut and past all of Faryg's ratebeer ratings just to irritate.

Oh and the first post in this thread looks like somebody's been "chasing the dragon"

Yet another positive reply. WTF is chasing the dragon.

I vote for Castlemains four XXXX....gotta get some.... :p

Too, too many

PS I am on the left and Peter is on the right from this view.

I've been flicking through a copy of Michael Jackson's great beer guide, with 500 classic brews, there are a lot to chose from. But if I am to define "commercial" as a megaswill brewery doing something reasonable, can't go past Tooheys Hunter Old Black Ale (pg 459).

cheers

Grant

Any Chimay, depending on the mood...

This is the best ever in this order

I really want to try a landlord now. I heard a lot about it and searched for a while and then gave up. I found some Fullers while searching, they were pricey enough at the cheap bottle shops, TT is normally only found in the pricier ones so I don't want to think about it.

I still rate Old Pec as my favourite, even though I haven't had one since last year. Also it's winter and I'm cold so my favourites right now are the winter warmer brews. If it was the middle of summer my answer might be different, ie a pale ale or IPA.

Old Peculiar. Love it. Don't know why, but when I had my first one in the UK I new it would be the first of many.

Going back in October and can't wait.

Pumpy, Sam Smiths is notable for having cheap and nasty beer! For some reason it has a cult following in the US though.
If I was going to a Sam Smiths pub, the reason I am going there is because the beer is 1.95 a pint, not because its good!

So hows about the best good old commercial beers on tap???

Mainstream on tap? hmmm... Coopers Sparkling (probably the most common), anything James Squire (even better).

If it's between VB, Carlton, and that lot of "beer", I'll take XXXX bitter. XXXX tastes less funny than the others, but just as watery.

Hmmm... so many good beers, so little space to write them in...

Czech- Budweiser Budvar (not to be confused with US budweiser *****)
Germany- Anything from Weihenstephaner - Oldest Brewery in the world beautifully crafted brews, voted best beer at Aust International Beer Awards for good reason
Belgium- Duvel - Great tasting brew with a serious kick in the alcohol content stakes
NZ- Ranted on already on another post about Emerson's (From Dunedin) but is a dream come true. Amazing beer (all of them) with sadly a high price tag and hard to find in Oz.
Oz- Red Hill brewery's Wheat Beer (Mornington Peninsula, Vic).
Oz- Grand Ridge (Mirboo Nth,Vic). Natural Blonde.
Oz- Mountain Goat (Richmond, Vic). Surefoot Stout. Rich and chocolatey flavour.
US- Alaskan Summer Ale. Can't drink/find it in Oz but is darn good. If you're ever in Juneau in Alaska the brewery there is well worth a look in.
Ireland- Sentimental Favourite - the pint of Guinness.

Could go on and on but they're the top ones. Till I taste something else and fall in love. :chug:

Hopper.
