Its 7.30 in the morning and you guys have just made me thirsty  . Looks like I'll be going for a drive to Dans at some point today :D

Old Peculiar. Love it. Don't know why, but when I had my first one in the UK I new it would be the first of many.

Going back in October and can't wait.

Theakston's is now again owned by the Theakston family. You should try to get up to
Masham in Yorkshire ,the location of the brewery. Tastes fantastic on draft from one of the local pubs.
Black Sheep Brewery, owned by another of the Theakston family, is right next door. They do a very interesting brewery tour.
If you are there at the right time they re;ease the boiled wort into the hopback while you are in the same room. Hop heaven

Regards

Graeme

I've tried a fair few beers but can only really remember if I liked them or didn't and it's the ones that I don't like I can describe more accurately. Which is a bad way of thinking. Anyways, I was very much impressed by a Coopers Sparkling last night, I know it's a very regular kind of beer, but for the moment it's my favorite.

Cheers,
Joseph.

We're exactly the same here. It's fine to have by itself, as a good (cheap ish) domestic option. It's still a bit "rough" stacked up against better beers, though.
Coopers is a good company. We once encountered a bottle with a strong plastic flavour, and a quick email resulted in a Coopers girl showing up at our door with a replacement 6-pack :)

I've been on a search for the last year or more to find a commercial beer I like that is also easily available anywhere you go. (that being the factor that makes it hard. I have a few I like, but you can only get them at certain locations).

I think I might have solved my dilemna. Blend coopers stout with coopers pale, either 1:1 or 1:2 depending on mood. Not bad.

Guess you'll be searching for a while. <_< There's plenty of nice ones, but they're all really expensive and only available at Dan's/1st Choice.

I really miss the beer diversity back in Canada. The amount of restaurants and other places here that totally neglects their beer selection still surprises me.
How often do you see a massive wine/champagne selection, then the beer list is VB, XXXX, Cascade Light, Crown Lager? :(

I know the problem exactly trev, although in recent times I've noticed some squires coming onto the list and being from adelaide there's usually at least cpa there too. OT: (We have the Belgium beer cafe here that has a lot of beers available, but from my experience the staff are not passionate, the atmosphere is very so-so and the food is nothing special, which would be fine for a normal pub, but they over-charge for the specialty of serving Belgium beer. )

Pumpy, Sam Smiths is notable for having cheap and nasty beer! For some reason it has a cult following in the US though.
If I was going to a Sam Smiths pub, the reason I am going there is because the beer is 1.95 a pint, not because its good!

Oh well Tim it was a long time ago in the UK , I also like my coffee black with no sugar and eat peanutbutter and Black olive sandwiches .

Pumpy ;)

So many to choose from. But I'd have to go with a Bavarian Weissbier, fresh from the brewery, accompanied by a huge plate of life-threateningly fattening Bayrisch goodies.

Always thought it was John Smiths being the cheap and nasty one.
Both Tadcaster based breweries though. It's been a long long time so memory could be failing.
Sams do an Oatmeal Stout. ( I think )..

Those pictures make the mouth water

TB is correct it is the John Smiths that is the cheap and nasty one. I used to ride 40 miles to the nearest Sam Smiths house, well worth it, rode back the next day of course.

+1 vote for that one cannot beat a good Black and Tan quite nice with Sparkling Ale too.

I take great pleasure in telling people how samuel smiths organic and pure brewed lagers are the two highest rating euro pale lagers on beeradvocate.

Best Australian beer for me is Mountain Goat's Hightail Ale. A couple of pints at the brewery last night was heaven.

Yummo.

Guinness on tap
Weihenstephaner Hefeweissbier (the blue label one)
Black Sheep Ale
Forbiden fruit
Erdinger Dunkel
Chimay Red
Fullers ESB
Schwelmer Pils

If they were all on tap at every pub i would be a very happy man :)

cheers

Hightail is a fine drop. Reckon the boys at the brewery have replicated the style of a Carling Black Label beer perfectly (tried a side by side test and they're very similar). Is a shame it's not available more widely around OZ.

One of the many reasons to trek out to Dan's or First Choice... if only better beers started showing up in pubs/restaurants, etc.

I had a Rochefort 8 a few weeks back. It blew me away. I was familiar with Rochefort 10 before I had this. Great beer so I was expecting the 8 to be somewhat similar. The 8 totally exceeded my expectations. I didn't think it could be that good. One of the best beers I've ever had.

Not the infamous Carling Black Label from Ontario Canada I hope.
Went International and nasty swill available in the U.K. back in the 70s
The choice of a generation NOT
Cannot be the same surely not.
Thought it died out with Gary Glitter.
Haven't seen it in decades like Watneys Red Barrel and Double Diamond.

Don't worry I am only neeenineteen in my dreams :super:
