With my last 5 or so brew on the HERMS set up i have been getting atleast 2 or 3 points lower FG. Does anyone else notice they are getting a more fermentable wort when recirculating their wort?
Mash temp is measured with the same equipment (accurate to .1 degree)
Hey All
Around 2pm today on ABC there was a 10minute BBC program frpm 2000 showing the brewing process from the black sheep brewery. Was basic but cool still. What suprised me was there was NO concern of HSA, the hot wort was splashing from the mash into the kettle and then was splashing from...
In the quest to get the beer in the fermenter faster at the end of the brew day im after a way to filter out hop flowers. I have used a termimesh screen for 20 or so brews and have upgraded everything to stainless steel.
Im after peoples thoughts on either a beerbelly stainless hopscreen or a 9"...

Has anyone in Adelaide had rainwater analysed? My ph meter reads it at around 7.5.
Obviously it varies with location. What sort of salts levels have you been reading.
Cheers for any help you can give.
I have read Noonans, Palmers and various other books and searched on line a fair amout as well, but am still not 100% sure on the entire process of making water additions.
I understand the mash PH is important and also various additios effect the flavour eg malty, hoppy flavours.
If emulation...

What do you all think would cover most bases.
Exclude HB choc and 150 Crystal as already in stock.
Any feedback on the following would be appreciated

HI All
Does any one know if a coarser crush will increase efficiency? I crush very fine and end up with a good 10mm of flour slime on top of the mash and this causes the liquid to run down the sides of the tun.
Cheers
Howdy
