I found some yeast cake stored in the fridge. It could be London ale or bohemian lager.
Can you help me to identify it?

Appearance: 150ml of ivory sludge

smell: like a fresh activator pack, yeasty

taste: earthy and yeasty

In all seriousness does any one know a dichotomy that does not involve making a batch?

Cheers

Short of getting a microscope and looking at the colonies, I'd try and make a small starter with some of it and taste it in it's prime. Might give you a better idea

Propagate a sample of the yeast at or above 32degC (in a starter or similar).
Ale yeast should grow without issue however lager yeast will not.

Good man Wolfy, spot on, I remember reading that in the new Yeast book :icon_cheers:
