Using An Esky As A Mash Tun

My run off remark was because I find if I run off the the first runnings too fast my efficiency suffers. Although I measure the gravity in the tun, what ends up in the boiler is lower OG. And I do 2 batch rinses.Ive slowed the rate and efficiency improved???
