hi all, looking at an old fridge and was wondering where to purchase a temp controller and at what price? thanks. also can anyone give me a run down on how the actually work? does the fridge need to work or is it a seperate unit?

There are a few threads here about the STC1000.
You should be able to buy for less than $15AUD.

You plug your STC1000 into your single phase outlet, and plug your unmodified fridge into the output from the STC1000.
I haven't seen a bad comment about them here. .. and many many many people very happy with them.
