Apollo Snub Nose 30L and mkII temp controller?

Hey guys. im currently using the apollo snub nose for my home brewing. my beer is in the fermenter as i type this. seem to be having problems with the MKII temp controller though or i should say the temp probe attached. i have pushed the temp probe into the thermowell port at the lid of the snub nose but it doesnt go far down at all. potentially only going in enough for the metal temp probe to be inserted around the top of the thermowell. has anybody else used this? and does anyone know how to get it further down? or even if it needs to be? thank you!!
