yeah...that is what it looks like. I think its pretty cheap idea, and the amount he saves by doing this is passed on down to us. $45 for a stir plate is pretty good imo, especially with a 5 year warranty. It looks like a homebrewer helping out fellow homebrewers. I don't think he makes much money off this at all.

exactly what I was thinking with the power supply. Could also make the postage cheaper for not including them.

^This one. My missus is from the States and she brought some electrical stuff with her when she moved and the adapter thing is a PITA.

For what it is worth, anyway.

looks like the ones Big W sell with the silicon seal and the snap closures at the end. Pretty sturdy plastic. Make great hops storage containers as well....

Great idea to use as an enclosure.

(edit: the case I mean - not the stir plate. It would be a happy day when the Big W home brew section stocked stirplates....)

I'm going to be difficult and see if I can just get the kit?

The assembled stirplate looks too small for my 5L flask, plus I've already got stirbars and rare earth magnets.

I we can get KIT #2 without supply would be ideal for me, I don't mind assembling it, finding a case and plug pack (I may even build a 240v supply into it, just so there is some high voltage near my liquids)

Actually, i wouldn't mind getting the kit version, then I can set it up as needed.

Second thoughts, might get the full thing, and then modify as/if needed.

I don't see what the problem would be...just change your name from the stir plate to the stir plate kit.

I have one of these stirplates and I will vouch for it - has no problems moving around a 2L starter. I'd suggest seeing if you can get the the stir plate without the power supply though. I tried using the one supplied with an adaptor but ended up with that lovely burning electronics smell h34r:

I found the supplier quite helpful - quick to answer questions and he was keen to make sure the parcel arrived ok (apparently I was the first to order one from Australia).
