Went to Coles at Lynbrook on my way home tonight to get some things for dinner. In Liquorland they had 6 packs of Sierra Nevada Pale Ale for $7.00. I asked the chick who said it had gone past it's best before date on the 28th Feb.
Now in the past I've brought beer without realising it was past it's best before date and it's tasted crap.

But as I know SN pay extra to ship their beer in containers that are located in the middle of the ship and therefore don't have varying temperature fluctuations I figured they might still be okay.

And you bet they bloody were, still tasted as fresh as the day they were bottled. So much so that I'm going back tomorrow to buy the rest.

Always good when you score a bargain with good beer.

Have you tasted fresh SNPA?

Not being a dick, but I don't think the bottles I've had in Australia have been anywhere near as good as when in their homeland.

I have only tried SNPA once, when I was on the Sunshine Coast two years ago, and it admittedly came from a local BWS. No off flavours or anything but, really, I've had far better APAs tasted in club comps from APA gurus like Browndog or Pocket Beers. I remain to be convinced.

Edit: but at seven bux a pack, it would beat the crap out of Tun bitter :p

They're definitely good enough for $7 a 6 pack. Nice work mate that's a steal

I agree with you Bribie they are well overrated and there are a lot that are better but that is cheap.
I might race Truman there tomorrow.

Have you fine fellers has these on the home turf?

SNPA is a lovely, fresh, fruity APA. Not really doing it justice over here, in my humblest of opinions.

I'm mostly over drinking beers outside of their native country.

I don't intend to visit a deeply divided and increasingly a plain ignorant and dangerous country that incarcerates a whole 20% of the planet's prisoners on its own home soil, has reintroduced medieval torture on a regular basis and is probably going to take the world into a new dark age.... yes there are islands of calm and intelligence there, including the craft beer movement, and I'm sure you can have a lovely holiday there if you turn a blind eye, but I'd agree with Spiesy that beers outside their home turf are often disappointing, as their enjoyment is very much aligned to the environment you drink them in, whether an old pub in the UK or a beer garden in Munich.

I've been told my multiple people that have had the privilege to taste it at the source that said the stuff that arrives in Aus does not do it justice.

Spiesy makes it 4 so has to be true.

but $7 sweet deal

I was there last year, and going again this year, but to New York and Boston, yes beer does taste better in its own environs and I am looking forward to another tasting adventure.
Cheers
