Very commendable Spiesy, couldn't open that link but have signed up as a regular supporter of Peter Mac, it is pitiful to see the kids going through cancer.

thanks mate - yeah, cancer is a prick of a thing.

Good on you mate, its sad but I made it 2 weeks. If I'd have taken donations it might have been a different story.
11.5kgs into my BM50MK2 and 87% efficiency - wow. Gladfield Pilsner brings the mad crazy sugars!

Have tasted one with, and have heard others taste/smell DMS. Not sure what the boils were like so not sure if this was the problem...

I have used Gladfield Pilsner and had no DMS. 100% pilsner, 90min boil and WLP 830. I always do a D-rest with lagers.

No DMS here - perhaps you're doing it wrong, ADr-0?
Founders Imperial Stout: sadly I have found my first disappointing Founders beer.

Horses for intercourses and all, my ol' man and I did not enjoy it.
My first oatmeal stout has been somewhat of a disaster at every stage - just not meant to be. Hard to believe that a total of 9.4% dark roasted malts (choc, roast barley and black malt) has given this beer SFU roast.

Commiserations! What do you think happened? Should've used 10%??

Stu, I doubt 0.6% would have made a difference... I don't know, to be honest mate. I LOVE stout, but rarely brew it.

Yob, that's a reasonable suggestion, but that would could potentially ruin another 20L of beer! I'll struggle through.

Good to see a few tiger faithful around here. Last year was tough. Emotional roller coaster.
How would you describe the flavour and aroma of Czech Saaz? I have a Pilsner on tap, that has peach vibes... all Czech Saaz, weird, but very nice.

Martin, WLP800, I think it was fermented at 10-12 degrees (was brewed back in Oct, and I didn't take notes. Lagered for 2-months at 2-degrees).

Lethal, 70g at 60mins. 50g at 20mins. 30g cube hopped - 20L batch. There may have been another 20g dry hopped. So, a shiteload of Saaz.

    It does taste nice though.

don't know the yeast well enough, but was thinking it might be just an ester coming through.

Yeah, nor do I, to be honest.
off to the States tomorrow - looking forward to undisturbed movies and reading on the plane (I am a new Dad) and then beer, ribs and burgers once Stateside!
kegerator seems to be struggling - I think this is God's way of saying "upgrade your kegerator to the max, Spiesy!"

I just think it's the freezers way of saying that it's overworked and needs a holiday with another brewer

lol - might have to see if I can get it fixed, with a view to upgrade in a year's time
Return from a couple of nights away, and my nice hoppy American Amber is gone. 15L worth has seeped out through a pinprick hole in the bottom of my keg. Kegerator is a mess, and I can only assume the bulk of the beer has seeped through the floorboards as it is nowhere to be seen.
At the airport, waiting for some guests to arrive - could watch the Singapore Airlines hostesses walk through here all day!

I'm a Dad! Baby Will Spies, my new brewery assistant and the latest long-sufferingTigers supporter was born yesterday afternoon to a very happy Mum & Dad. Can't wait to head back in to see him.
