I do own a lauter helix but when I saw this in Bunnings I was curious as to wether it would work or not and at $13 it was cheap enough to try it.

Cut off where the hose goes into chrome collar, then carefully cut through collar and unravel hose from plastic

Slide the hose back to expose the inner plastic tube, then clamp and stretch it while at the other end with a dremel or whatever cut the tube inside the brass fitting to remove. Then reattach the nut and plastic end piece.

You then need to add a 1/2"plug to the end. All you have to do now is attach it to the inside of your pot

I had another go with the shower helix and remembered to get a pic this time. The clarity of the final runnings was amazing when compared to the lauter helix.

Still hot. Next day. Lauter helix hot.

Same grain bill and 100gms hops at 15 mins.

Good work. I did something similar with a SS flexible hose connector, but this looks to be way more effective. At $13, well worth a try.
