I recently bought a petrol line trimmer with electric start from Masters. The problem with all of them seems to be that the "bump and go" thing to advance the line never seems to work properly on every trimmer I've ever owned.

Almost a ditto, my latest Ryobi has had 100% bump and go success, for at least two years, it has been great.

Buy a stihl, had one for 3 years never had an issue!

Same goes for Honda, tap and go works if the line is rolled up correctly.

There's an aftermarket head called a little juey.
It takes pre cut lengths of thick line and works a treat.
