March Pump 809 Bulk Buy

I though i would start a fresh thread for anyone interested in a march pump bulk buy from:

If anyone is interested state whether you want the SS bracket and three pin plug or not. If everyone wants the bracket and plug we might be able to get a discount on that as well, otherwise it could be ordered individually.

If we can get a few names up i'll contact Karl and see what he can do.

I might be interested. However when I've looked in the past the cost of these has been similar to the Peristaltic pump sold by Craftbrewer, which seems to be the better option. Can anyone give me a quick comparison of the pros and cons of each?

Hi Steve,

The March Pumps from Karl are MUCH cheaper than the Peristaltic pumps from CB (at least they were when I last checked). In my opinion, they also suit brewing much more than a perstaltic pump. I don't know of anybody who uses a peristaltic pump on their brew rig, I wouldn't recommend it.

One thing I might mention here is if you guys have the chance to get the upgraded March pump (can't remember the code but it has more head and a higher flow rate than the 809), I would recommend going for that. You can always throttle them back if the flow is too great, but there's nothing worse than not having enough flow. On my big brew system the 809 only *just* gets me by, in hind sight I whould have gone the more powerful option.

Peri pumps are great for transfer of liquids usually between fermenters( least amount of agitation and O2 pick up) etc but for anything else I would go mag drive pump IMHO.
