I doubt most commercial breweries or other food/beverage producers would be using standard impeller pumps for any food-grade application.
You need to visit a few more of them then! :lol:
Every brewery i've visited has used an impeller driven pump, or gas for water / wort / beverage transfer. Same with the Coke WA factory too.
I've never seen a peristaltic pump used at a commercial brewery, packaging or otherwise. Thats not to say I don't think they're a great item for the homebrewer. It's easier than using the hot caustic / acid rinse cleaning techniques that the commercials have to go through to keep things clean.
