For all the ones who are tentative because of price you could almost bank on them being around the $220 + mark. Taking into account the little aussie bleader ($$) is at one of its lowest points for quite some time. But that aside, I would say mine was one of my best investments in respect to AG brewing.

Yeah i'm regretting not getting the ones for $160 AUD landed here earlier in the year. :angry:

EDIT: My question was answered in the last two posts:)

I bought mine years ago from the states, from memory $179 landed with a real base not one of those weak stainless bolt on jobs. Best money a brewer can invest , never has it let me down.One tip, if you put a ball valve on the out let make it a full bore valve.It pushes twice the amount of liquid as opposed to a limited valve.I must change mine to full bore valve.

Definately keen, with the brackets and the 3 pin plug.

should get a decent discount on an order of 20 odd pumps surely ....

<snip> maybe he doesnt need ANY pumps in stock.
I'd bet that Karl would be able to do his own bulk buy from his supplier for this many. I'm still tentative for price, as good as it sounds (I've spent a bit getting AG up and running, and as yet, it ain't) so I have a couple o' questions for those that know;

- How much faster (compared to gravity feed) does this pump wort? I get that it pumps, but I can be patient if need be. Examples anyone?
- Is there much risk of oxidation using one of these? I know I'm new to this method, so I probably won't notice, but if I potentially have a three-tier setup, should I bother? If output is too high, will it get aerated?
- Are there any other disadvantages to this that I haven't thought of?

Cheers, and keep me on the list for now. :icon_cheers:

Might be interested depending on price.
If not might look at this pump http://www.aquariumproducts.com.au/catalog...85&catID=80 pros or cons please.
Dazza

Seems that one has a polypropylene inner, which I believe is food safe. A manual for it on another site suggests that it is not safe for "high specific gravity fluids" but there's no quantification on how high is too high. Price can be beaten, even with the exchange rate as stands... Although it "offers the capacity of pumping a high valume [sic] of water" and the fact that it runs at 110V... Any sparkies know if this is an issue? Worth the price drop?

In my opinion, they also suit brewing much more than a perstaltic pump. I don't know of anybody who uses a peristaltic pump on their brew rig, I wouldn't recommend it.
You're gonna have to back that one up mate. Peristaltic pumps are ideal for any beverage transfer system because no foreign materials ever come into contact with the fluid - it's just silicone or norprene hose, compressed by a rotating set of wheels. You don't have to worry about lubricants, decomposing o-rings or corroding metal parts fouling your beer, or the temperature or pH of your fluid damaging your pump. The main drawback is usually the speed - most of them are designed for low, precise flows for medical or chemical industries. But if you're patient they are out there in bigger sizes, Ross' unit will do 1L/min, and I missed a pair of them on Gray's the other day that did 17L/min (yes, I'm kicking myself). March pumps are great because they're (relatively) cheap and meet most brewers needs quite well - food safe, temp safe, high flow - but there are other options out there, some of which would be considered better under certain circumstances. I doubt most commercial breweries or other food/beverage producers would be using standard impeller pumps for any food-grade application.
