I really don't have a good answer to that. There is a home brewing community of course but my guess is that it's nowhere near as popular as in the US or Australia. It is much more common in The Netherlands. It might have to do with the availability of good (and quite cheap) beer in Germany. Craft beer has a tiny share of the national beer market. I guess Germany is difficult that way, sadly not very open to new or foreign beer styles. But to give you an idea: there is no homebrew shop in all of Berlin (population of roughly 4 million) where I live. Next one would be in Hamburg, 250 Kilometers away and that has just recently opened (a branch of a Dutch homebrew shop). There may be about a dozen online shops in Germany, some sell a very limited number of Kegland products, there isn't more than a handful of actual walk-in shops (some very small) in all of Germany. Not good...No worries at all. What home brew distributor do you normally purchase products from in Germany. It's strange that throughout all my travels in Germany I have not come across any home brew stores? Is that because in Germany you guys have so many good beers to choose from that home brewing is not that popular?
I just realized: I had my first homebrew ever in Australia! On vacation in the Northern Territory 2006!
