dry hopping

hey guys just wondering what your preferences are to dry hopping with hop pellets in a paint strainer bag vs straight in to fermenter? ,,,,,,,,, does adding hops into fermenter with out a bag add more aroma to your beer having direct contact ?

is this the same with adding hops during the boil ........ adding hops straight in to the kettle with out a hops sock add more flavor/ aroma ?
