I'd use a Czech (Bohemian) Pilsner malt for starters. It's half the signature flavour.

And the Boh lager yeast, but 2001 would be better if you are a patient type.

thanks for that.

I only have standard Pils malt. Should i hang off then until i have the right malt/yeast combo and make something else?

Nah - I'm sure that recipe is a cracker - not to style, but that never stopped a beer from being perfect.

I've just got a thing for the Hanka (Czech) malt strain. It's awesome.

awesome, thanks heaps, once again you've been a great help nick :)

Hey all,

About to brew a "Czech Pilsner by Boston" - http://www.aussiehomebrewer.com/forum/inde...&recipe=651

I dont have the yeast specified, but i have the following:

Wyeast 2124 - Bohemian lager
Wyeast 2308 - Munich lager
S189
S23
W34/70

Any suggestions on which would be best to use instead?

Thanks heaps!

Having tasted that beer i can safely say it tastes like a czech pilsner.

I'd use either 2124 or 2308.

Weyerman Pilsner malt is fine, probably not as good as the boh pils floor malted gear but better than aussie pils malt.
