Hi.

I have a stash od packets from coopers kits sitting in the cupboard.

The ones that came with the wheat beer kits have the yeast packed differently to the other ale kits I've bought. (white sachets, vs. golden sachets for the others)

Anyone know if it is in fact a wheat yeast, or just the regular coopers ale yeast?

TIA. :)

there is not much on the packet.
There is a production code: 283 5 W

Don't know if the W is the line it's made on, or for wheat...

I'd email Coopers but i'd suggest it's probably the normal yeast. If it's the "wheat" yeast it's not a true weizen yeast anyway, there are no true dry weizen yeasts.

Asked coopers customer service:

>No mate, the yeast sachets supplied with Coopers International, Thomas
>Coopers Brewmaster (including Wheat Beer) and Thomas Coopers Premium
>Selection Series all have yeasts specifically tailored and matched to
>each individual brew. Coopers Original Series concentrates are the only
>varieties that are supplied with a generic ale strain of yeast.

Still not really any the wiser.
