There used to be over 300 varieties of garlic in Australia, and from a dodgey memory this is now down to a 10th of it. It is not a seeding plant, a living bulb (searching for correct term), so once the bulb is dead, so is the variety. Importation of the wider varieties must be done over again, who has the time and money for that ... but, whilst the Aussie stuff is about $12 a kilo, thats shit loads and the local stuff craps all over the imports.
But, my bro-in-law has just done some contract brewing in China, and the exception rather than the rule was type 90 hops. The majority of hoping done in the plant was done post filtration and to a specification; aka sticky wort ferment and using a hop extract. (who said CUB would be standalone here .. ey .... ey!!!)
Funnily enough, the beer is now bittered at kettle-up and with T90's ...
