I rinse my PET bottles out after decanting with five rinses. I don't sterilize them at all, just two rinses of 60 degree + tap water.
So far, I've had maybe five bottles that were infected ... ever, in twenty years of brewing.
I reckon that's a small price to pay for the hundreds of hours I've saved my not being too paranoid about bottle infection. Yeast is a pretty efficient bacteria-killer - so's alcohol.
However, I sterilize the living crap out of my fermenter. No alcohol or bounding yeast when the tasty stuff goes in the barrel.
