Hi everyone,

I'm interested in learning more about the best practices for using tri Clamp Fittings in various applications. Whether you're using them in industrial settings, agriculture, or home brewing, I'd love to hear about your experiences.

What are the key factors to consider when selecting Camlock fittings? Are there any common issues to watch out for, and how do you address them? Any maintenance tips or recommendations for specific brands would be greatly appreciated.

Looking forward to your insights!

I’m not a fan of Camlock for brewing!

Having visited dozens of craft breweries, I can say I have never seen a Camlock fitting being used.
Pretty much the industry standard is Tri Clamp (Tri Clover). Around 90% of those have 50.5mm ferrules, the exceptions being specialised in place fittings like filter housings and sterile sample or instrument ports.

If you insist on using Camlocks, for brewing i would use sterile milk fittings (dairy being about the only industry that works to the same hygiene standards as brewing).
You don’t say where you are from but if you are looking for high quality food standard fittings I have found Geordie Stainless very good. Not the cheapest option but very good quality.

Try to standardise your brewery with one size fitting (50.5 mm Tri Clamp) gives you lots of configuration options and interchangeability. You are very unlikely to need bigger fittings unless your thinking of 2500+ litre batches.

The thread title is camlocks, but the link in the post says tri-clamp.

I worked in the Dairy manufacturing industry and BSM lipped fittings were the standard. We then moved onto BSM modified or lip removed. Then on to Triclover fittings.
Geordi stainless was my preferred go to supplier.
