I put down a brew a while ago.. maybe 3 weeks or even a month. I let it brew out, cold crashed and dry hopped at about 10 days in gradually over a few days, and its been sitting in the fridge for 2 weeks - how long can you leave it before bottling? it was dry hopped with citra.

    Cold Crash after 1 week

Is that too early? I'm using a ferm chamber - just wondering if another week (cold crashed) is the way to go or if I need it to brew at the solid 19-20 for 2 weeks? I want to try dry hopping gradually during cold crashing.

    Dry Hopping & Krausen

I am only new to Dry Hopping. The last few brews I have had have had very high krausens, and one actually overflowed. The current one I am keeping an eye on, and have loosened the lid some and hope it doesn't over flow. When it comes to dry hopping, I have found that some of the hops will sit...

Forgot to cold crash my starter, decanted 1 litre

I made a 1056 starter at the start of this week and decided to let it brew out. Its been on the stir plate since then at 19 degrees in my ferm chamber. It was 2 litres to start off with. When I was pouring it.. I saw some yeasties on top and it started to look a bit thick and I realised.. oh...

Slurry pitched - haze in bottle?

I put down a cube on a slurry cake (same wort as previous brew) and it went bananas the first few days of brewing and actually overflowed slurry into the top of the lid. I asked on here and someone told me to glad wrap it, which I did - and at the same time dry hopped. The slurry was quite thick...

Can I wait a little longer to bottle

I have an ale thats brewed out, left to cold crash and now has been chocked with a piece of wood (to get the trub to the back) for one day.. thing is, its been pretty hot, like 30-32 indoors during the day and high 20s during the day. I'm racking the beer down now into the bottling cube - just...

Need quick advice - can my brew be saved? stuck sparge

So I put down an electric pale ale today, and its been going for 90 mins, first runnings and its all stuck sparge. I have already taken off the bits cleaned them out and reassembled with a squirty bottle.. not sure how much contamination is at this point? So its still stinking hot here so...

    I had a Krausen Overflow

I was away for a few days and this happened. I didn't have an airlock, just a sanitised bottle cap over the hole. Bit concerned as the exterior of the ferm lid was not as sanitised as the inside.. didn't really expect this to happen - but I slurry dumped a cube, so I guess the yeast went real...

    Hop Hog Clone - 21 L

I had a crack at hop hog clone courtesy of Dano's version here on the forums. Took a gravity of reading after a week and WOAH :icon_drool2: I tweaked it a bit based on my tastes and 'semi-chilled' with the ice cube/sink method. Started at 1.052 and has come all the way down to 1.006 today...

    Can I bottle Yet

Ive not dry hopped before. I did a brew last sunday, pitched monday, added dry hops around wednesday, and it was nearly complete! - OG was 1.052, was down to about 1.012. Its a hop hog clone sitting in 20 degree constant temp chamber, pitched with 1272. Can I bottle if its at my desired FG? Or...

    Yeast Pitch before wort

Thinking of trying something different this brew. I have brewed out a starter of AAII and I'm going to decant the wort off the top and add some boiled, sterile water and pitch the yeast into the bottom of the fermenter first. Anyone had any dramas doing this? Seems like its a good way to go to me?

    Rain Water

Ive moved to a new place that has a tank and rain water to the side of the house. There is, however a sign reading 'rain water, do not drink'. I am putting down an all grain brew today, and will be boiling for 60 mins. Will it be all good?

Bulk Prime calc - Cold crashed beer

I've just racked my cc'd beer to the bucket - and I've filled out the calculator here I am aiming for about 2.6 and have 9 Litres - I punched in the wort is probably at around 4 degrees - I usually prime at room temp - ab out 5.8g per litre. But cuz it is colder it says less priming sugar? I...

    Cubed beer - Reduced head?

I brewed a double of LCPA Clone - pretty happy with the results. The first batch I bottled was bulk primed with about 6g/litre cane sugar. Usually I go 5.8 but upped it slightly to 6 as it was mighty cold that week - about 1 week later I put the second down at my usual 5.8g/litre The first...

    Heat belt too hot?

I put down an IPA a week ago at 1.060 and measured the gravity, its giving me 1.020 today - so I put the heat belt about 1/3 up the base and left it for about 10 hours - when I came back, it seems way too hot, and there is a white mark where the heat belt has been (its a black fermenter) so I...

    Cricketer's Indian Pale Ale Clone

My brother gave me this beer to try and its pretty damn nice. Think its American. Anyone tried it or tried cloning it? It reads on the back 'Made in the Style of New World Indian Pale Ales' uses dry hopping and 2 specialty malts to provide a smooth bodied taste. Very delicious I must say - I'm...

Esky Mash Tun/Lauter - Hose clamps

HI everybody, was just wondering what I can use instead of hose clamps on my cistern esky set up. So far I've thought double pronged hooks or wire.. basically I don't want to use hose clamps as they seem to rust out in between batches.

Most useful/annoying - The brewing process

Just thought I'd start this as I was thinking the other day how handy and easy certain parts of brewing are and how trying other parts are. For me - the most useful parts of my system are my bottling bucket and 30L Birko urn - The bucket I use for measuring water, bulk priming wort, bottling...
