I was away for a few days and this happened. I didn't have an airlock, just a sanitised bottle cap over the hole.

Bit concerned as the exterior of the ferm lid was not as sanitised as the inside.. didn't really expect this to happen - but I slurry dumped a cube, so I guess the yeast went real hard.

Should I clean it up, or just let it roll - Spose it doesn't really need a bottle cap if its in a fridge?

Advice appreciated.

I'd temporarily bung the hole, carefully remove the lid, spray the lip of the FV with starsan ( wipe with some alcohol wipes if you have them) then stick some gladwrap over the opening and secure with the o ring from the lid.
Fridges can be full of undesirables. Those undesirables might not be able to scale walls but they can sure as hell fall down a well.
