Cheers blokes! Looking forward to the reading, lucky I still have a week of paid hols left! Gotta love the life of a school teacher (well, outside of school hours anyway).

    BIAB - Guidance req

G'day, I have been dormant on this forum over the last twelve months as I continued to happily k&k along and drinking steadliy. During that time though I have been able to have the Old Man construct a brew pot out of a 'found' CUB keg. Add a ring burner and a trip to Lincraft and I think I can...

    Kilkenny Priming

G'day Bruhars, I recently put down a "Kilkenny" clone from Brewcraft and was wondering what i should prime it with as to not get it too "fizzy". I am individually priming 375ml bottles. Thanks heaps

    Labour Policy On Old Cars

G'day, I am under the assumption that, regardless of who wins, that today was the beginning of the end for some of the great old cars on our roads. Living in the West, with fairly loose rules in terms of what you can rego, we are used to commuting in old bangers if need be. The 'youngest'...

    Best And Worst Bottles

I have been using Hahn Premium 375ml stubbies for 10 years with no explosions. I am pretty sure they no longer come in 375ml capacity but I collected about 200 of them and put all my brews in old cartons sealed with Gaffa Tape. Nice and thick, drop a full one and they won't break.

    Aussie Brewers On Youtube

G'day all, I have noticed that there is quite a bit of good stuff in Youtube to do with homebrewing. These vids range from very informative for the novice to basically someone filming their brew day with little to no instruction. The 'problem' is that almost all of these vids are in the US and...

The Best Thing I Did That Improved My Kit Beer.

Bulk priming is definitely something that has improved my drops. I still am of the firm belief that due to starting brewing at home (12 months this week) and having so many bottles to be filled it meant that by the time i had filled these with my first half dozen brews the first brew had nearly...

    Estimated Time Of Explosion

G'day, Had a bit of a bo peep on the site, wondering if there is an answer, probably not definitive though. I understand the basics of bottles exploding and, touch wood, have not experienced this yet. My example is a beer that possibly had a high FG when bottled. My question, is there a...

    Cascade Imperial Voyage Pale Ale

G'day, For anyone who is like me and still exhausting all K&K combos I have just sampled the topic title after two months in the cupboard and the verdict is lovely. I purchased a tin of goo, brewcraft kit convert and US-05. I would be useless at critiquing this on the palate, but I do enjoy...

    Black Rock Whispering Wheat

As the title suggests, this brew was extremely cloudy when bottling, from the first bottle to the last, have not experienced this before. Prior to today the tub was kept at stable temp (22-18 deg) using a wet towel, which is the first time i have tried this for temp control, works mint in...

    Plastic Tub Vs Carboy

G'day, Well it is Saturday night and i have been 'on the wagon' for three weeks with another three to go! (i am still allowed to visit the site?) I would like the following question answered: What is the difference, if any, between a plastic fermenter with a screw type lid, and a glass carboy...

    Im New At This

From one novice to another Whyp, keep as many of those Cooper's bottles as you can manage and then some. I was in your situation about 10 months ago and became hooked because i had 200 clean, ready to go stubbies, so by the time i filled those my virgin brew had been maturing for over a month...

    Bottles With Priming Sugar

My LHBS recommended 10g Dex per litre. This was for a straight up Cooper's lager. Is this high? +1 on the bulk priming, one of the first steps i have taken towards homebrew stardom and thoroughly recommend it.

    Bulk Primed......and It Worked!

G'day, Approximately one month ago i bulk primed a Coopers Lager with dextrose as i was bottling into PET bottles of differing sizes. Being the first time i have done this i poured the dex straight into the primary, gently stir, and gave it about 20 min to settle and then began bottling. I...

    This Is A Prime Issue!

G'day, Had a go at priming into my primary today, used dex. Once added and stirred they appear to be like water and oil, this normal? Dex has been in there all of five minutes at the time of writing. Any quick help would be shweet.

Outta The Stubbie Or Into The Glass?

G'day Brewhars, Gave it a nudge the other night and did away with pouring out of the stubbie and just drank from it. Anyone else given up on the glass? I tasted no difference, having only brewed basic Coopers stuff and brew converter stuff i have only had sediment that is cement like in the...

    Pet Bottles

G'day all, Just had a couple of the kids' birthdays and have kept quite a few 1.25 - 2L bottles. I plan on using them for brewing, buying Coopers PET caps, boxing them and keeping them dark due to their clear plastic. Has anyone used these or use them now? I know Coopers do a PET but i am...
