There's so much of this rubbish circulating, it's often the same people posting it.

Surely if something stirs you up so much, you'd look into it to find out the facts, rather than rely on one dodgy email.

I had a fight with a rabid vegan last night on FB. You know the whole thing, animal cruelty, deforestation, damage to the environment, pollution, global warming...just from raising animal to eat.

Then it was, " Hope you die from heart disease from eating meat" and meat production used 500 x more water than what humans use per capital

So I pointed out that the smart phone she uses has more of an environmental affect due to the pollution, harmful chemicals used, the slave labour, the general waste from our throw away society...etc..

To which I got the best response ever " But they are a necessary for modern life, I need to talk to my mum and freinds every day, its just something that we need in a modern society."

Then was sent links to various animal lib/environmental sites that had " scientific" evidence ( i.e a few cherry picked lines from a whole range of studies pappers that just happened to suit the agenda ) and told to get on google and get my facts right before professing my love for a nice juicy steak

ANZAC is a tricky one

The use of it is very complex & very emotional

It is without a doubt our nations most powerful term

I personally do not believe that commercialism should play any part or be allowed to have any use of the term ( & related )

I think its sad, that the " insert the source of the original hoax " used the ANZAC's as a basis for racist propaganda

Considering that the Turks, who are mostly Muslim, did play fair in war and as well all know, regard our lost diggers with more respect than some of us in our own country,

This is a country that was basically Muslim in religion, but they the took our diggers as their own after the conflict and grieved and respected them as there own.

Maybe ANZAC day might make these racist a bit of reality

The difference is that in my OP and subsequent post, I did not, not even once, use personal insults. I didn't call Curly an idiot, moron, dickhead, ****, fuckstick or any other ephitet and I don't believe that any of those terms would have been warranted.

Furthermore to send Curly a PM would totally negate the point. The OP was misinformation being spread virally via the internet - therefore a public forum is an ideal place to quash it. What's the point of just telling Curly it's false? Anyone reading it should know and if they can't do their own, very basic research to show that, then at least they can be shown.

I've seen far worse flamings for someone posting false info about brewing that they repeated without checking and I for one am generally against that. In the case of vile, blatantly incorrect and defamatory postings such as the OP, I think a few swear words can be tolerated in the scheme of things.

I dunno. You cant lock / delete an actual conversation. But you can ignore it. I have no problems with mods castigating members for silliness here and there. As with a few other abominable threads, they normally go serious, off topic, piss take, further off topic than fizzle and die a natural death. At least you get to swear a bit and have chuckle or two.
