moving into a new house and different state (w.a) in 06 so find a new job to support my beer making activities.
so will list more lagers as a major plus an occasional belgian and real ales.
top of the list will be a new and proper bar set up in my new shed.

cheers

Still learning and refining techniques with kits at this stage. So my plans are:

1. liquid yeasts (only used dried and cultured up coopers yeasts so far)
2. get minimum equipment (pot, chiller of some sort) to do extract brewing
3. either increase brewing rate or decrease drinking rate so I don't have to buy from the bottle-o as often and my current stocks get to condition a bit more before drinking them
4. get fridge/freezer for lagering and storing stuff (and hence stop the wife complaining about all my stuff in the freezer)
5. and if all the above is achieved... start partial / full mashing...

cheers,

Andrei

I wil start by

improving my brew technique
improving my sanitation
approach brewing more scientific instead of artistic
control my ferm temps
better brew planning
brew to style
attend more mash exhibitions
join a brew club
sucking up to SWMBO for being such a spend thrift last year (1000) in three months for Ag gear.

perfect three styles, american pilsner, APA and Porter

cheers, jj

- Find out why my efficiency sucks 55%
- Improve on clearing my beers, maybe a filter.
- Get a new MLT
- Modify my kettle and chilling process.
- More APAs
- Try a lager

Jye

1. Keep my kegs full.
2. Brew a rye-weizen.
3. More batches of my nearly-perfect Amarillo Ale recipe.
4. Brew a decent Aussie style mid-strength lager as a session beer.
5. Build a 100-litre system with my brew-buddy Adrian.

Next batch will be a Scottish 80/- with Wyeast 1728.

- Stop stuffing around with my setup, becoming an obsession
- Brew more often
- Make the same brew twice
- Strictly follow a recipe and not try and change it last minute
- drink

For me brew-wise 2006 will be the year of...

- Making room in the garage for my brewery and fridges
- Finishing my AG brewery
- Getting a temp controller for my fermentation fridge
- Perfect AG grain brewing
- Enter a competition.
- Study BJCP program and hopefully get certified (that might be pushing it, perhaps 2007 will be my BJCP year!)

2006 for me will be:

move into new home,
set up my keg system when it finally arrives.... then brew and drink :)

cant wait!

when u get to Bullsbrook - look up Kym Burns in CHerrytree gardens - new part of Bullsbrook - he is an ex woff cook and a homebrewer - kits & Bits - very nice guy.

Then when i get back to wa and Bullsbrook - we can all meet up..

Might venture into partials using grain next year.

Aside from that, just trying to keep a steady flow of reasonable beer going whilst experimenting at the same time...which can be hard

PZ.

Re-make my Duvel clone and not drink most of it so quick.
Make more Belgian styles and not change the recipe like warrenlw63 :D I said THAT'S me when I read that :) :p I do change and not make the same style twice.

Hey, I hope I don't offend anyone here but I just noticed something funny.
Just read the 1st word of each line of the previous posts.
Maybe a touch Feudian (or too much cider) but see what you make of it.

For example:
Doc: Perfect, Refine, Upgrade, Find, Make. - what a personality profile!
Agro: Move, Get, Give, Brew, Learn, Drink. - make a good bumper sticker.
Ross: Keeping, Paying, Building, Modify, Switching, Brewing. - deep, but I've seen photos of your bar :)
Jaz's reads the same forwards or downwards :p ;)
warrenlw63: ;)

Xmas can be a great time.
Gives me pleasure to see people enjoying themselves.
Me heart goes out to you.
The best of luck to you all.
Shits me that the rellies have to go.

I want to have a go at
See how many Duvel Clone Stubbies my mates can drink before falling down :p I am well seasoned and trained :) then you can have a go at mine :chug:

Assemble the HERMES; even if it looks like the bride of Frankenstein!!

and then brew like I aint brewed before

after I motorize the mill !!!

Master all grain brewing
Brew to a particular style for a change
Enter a comp
Help my mates make a better beer

*Another organic Blonde
*Have a "standard"and constant supply of weizen
*A dunkleweizen(with munich)YUM
*An Alt
*A crispy clean kolsch
*A noble hopped Pils(in winter)
*An IPA,using Target/Fuggles
*A munich based amber lager with a big cascade finish(cos i can for my twisted taste buds)

At the moment all these are planned as 12 litre minis ,cos of my rudimentary equipment, but i will put at least 3 in sabsosa comp this year for feedback,as Im only 4 brews into AG(But lovin the control it gives me over malt profile, and mouthfeel).

EDIT* Oh yeah almost forgot, do an aussie pale ale and an american wheat as well.
Where does it all end?????

Get my new mill and use it.
Try out some Powells malts.
Use a greater range of specialty malts.
Fine-tune my brewday so all runs smoothly and to plan (at least some of the time).
Brew to style (leaving brewing without styles to 2007).
Enter a competition to see what I can improve.
Avoid all those bugs that are trying to get my precious.
Enjoy the fruits of my labours. :chug:

Hope you all enjoy brewing in 2006 as much as I have in 2005.

stop making stuf for everyone else and finish my mash rig.

Brew a roggenbier

Develop a signature lager for my keg that is both flavourful but easy to drink.

use more SAAZ in my next pils

get a first place in the ANAWBS.

And last but not least............

not have the lowest scoring beer at the aus National comp ;)

Oh well :p i got more places than lasts so im mot complaining at all. The comps are a great learning experience and truly improve you as a brewer. I highly recomend everyone to enter, no mater what you think of your beer. You might be pleasently suprised :D

cheers all and merry Xmas

2006?

Equipment wise:
Up until now I've had a good gravity fed setup off the back verandah.
However 40 litres of scalding water and little people do not mix, so I am going to have to pull up traps. A move into the 'pump room' below would have the major benefit that it would get me out of the elements. Lack of headspace means buying a pump (arrggghhh fittings and sanitation!) and I'd need to think about ventilation. Would like the plumbing extended. Might even get some water filtration put on. etc etc There's enough there to keep me busy for a while.

Styles:
Helles, Pils, Viennas, Mild & maybe some Strong Ales
as well as the usual suspects from the dark side of 40EBC.

Comps:
Last year I was scrounging to find stuff to put in.
I'll try and be more organised this year, though having the kegs is a real disincentive to bottling ANYTHING!

Inventory:
Reduce range of grains on hand: 33 is probably just a little excessive!

Pete
