Weldless Thermometer Location?

I have a 90 lt stainless steel HLT and a converted esky mash tun and I want to install thermometers in both. How far up or down the vessels do you put them? BTW hi everyone, 1st post and all.

from what I've seen on most brew pots 1/3 from the bottom seems popular, in the HLT the reading will have little meaning unless you are stirring it or have whirlpool.
