Test Tube Bulk Buy

Hi All,

I will be getting into yeast slants in the new year and wanting to invest in some test tubes. I called into the local Medequip Supplier and can buy 10ml flat bottom with screw cap 16mm dia X 97mm high, but can only buy in boxes of 1000 which is way surplus to my needs. I would put my hand up for 50.

The prices inc gst are:-

$112.00 for 1000 polypropelyne units = 11c ea

$242.00for 1000 polycarbonate units = 24c ea

Both are autoclavable so sterilising is not a problem. Polycarbonate units are more robust. I am happy to go either way.

At those prices they could be a throw away item.

I would be happy to organise everything, but please if you want some put your hand up for a multiple of 25. A bit pointless if I have to send one or 2 here and there.

No probs.

For everyones reference postage would be just under $10 for a 3kg Satchel which should accomodate 50-100. For 25 I may be able to get them in a 500g satchel for around $6. I will pack them secure enough that they shouldn't get broken. If I can get them sent cheaper I will.

Fellas I think PC would be the better option as it is a clear plastic

PP is only translucent

I'd prefer to see the culture clearly in the tube

I use LP9025-UU from ProSciTech which is PP tube and lid. I think you'll find that the polypropylene is perfectly suitable in terms of opacity.

I have no trouble seeing into the tube:
