Edit: However, I do use 4:1 and have never had an infection since I started using it. Simply to stretch the Metasilicate, as it can be a bit harder to come by.

Yep, I have two young kids and we soak any stained clothes with the perc / met mix and the stains come out and the clothes are like new. It has even got stains out that we thought were permanent after not coming out during regular washing or napisan soaking.
