Don't forget perc is brilliant for laundry and mixed 50/50 with lectric soda makes the best dishwasher powder you can't buy. I just bought a sack of perc in the other buy. This one is so I don't have to dip into brewing stocks for laundry and dishwashing.

Where do you get Lectric soda?
Does this DIY mix work ok in Dishwashing machines?
Do you use it at as a kinda 1:1 replacement ratio?

Im ALWAYS trying to curb our chemical usage in our household and we spend a small fortune on "environmentally friendly" laundry and dishwasher crap in this house.... and I dont even know if its actually any better than the cheap "environmentally nasty" stuff....

There have been a few threads on perc for dishwasher powder. You get Lectric Soda, which is sodium carbonate, in the laundry section at the supermarket. It's about $3 for a kilo bag. The way it's been explained to me, the Lectric Soda acts as a surfactant, and the perc does the cleaning. Yes, it's just a 1:1 replacement for dish powder. I also haven't had a clogged sink drain since I started using it (the dishwasher draining through the sink).

I've tried it with just the perc, but it leaves a residue. With the LSoda it leaves the cleanest dishwasher I've ever seen, time after time. I can't speak to the environmental friendliness of it. I'd like to find out more. Unfortunately the chemistry is not strong in this one, otherwise I'd work it out.
