What is this elbow piece you mentioned?

My guess would be a silicone elbow that slots into the pump inlet. I have a Guten which has the inlet to the side, but they don't have a false bottom so overall I would take the robobrews pump in the centre with a false bottom over the guten to the side but no bottom.

The guten comes with a replacement pump elbow, which may be exactly what you need?

I bought the whirlpool arm, sits on a shelf with the hop spider, both only used once. Using a paddle and leaving the immersion chiller in place gives a clear wort, whether you use the helix or not.
