  • Saaz T-45 can be that high. The stuff we have at the moment is around 6%

Thanks, that stacks up. Making a BoPils. While it won't be fully traditional, looks like it'll still work.
LHBS gave me bag of Saaz and wrote 7.9% AA on it (proper labels weren't ready). That seems awfully high for Saaz... can anyone confirm?

I saw that Brewman has Hersbrucker at 6%, so maybe it was a high alpha year in Germany. Packing hops with Hopdealz when they were around, alpha percentages could vary widely from year to year. Not always, but definitely sometimes.
Hop bursting Fuggles today... anyone do this?

Not specifically with fuggles but I do with most of my IPAs with great results.

I'm curious to see how the earthiness comes out when it's used this way. I typically use Fuggles at the more traditional times.
Homebrew shops, would it kill you to keep online inventories up to date, before I make the trek into your store?

As they say in the classcs "La merda succede". Gremlins get into even the best inventory systems. Just accept that nothing is perfect.

You could shop at Woolies or Coles, they have trillions. The local HBS owner is lucky to pay himself a wage plus super plus leave etc

Are you talking about KK Yeast Inventory? LOL...never up-to-date.
Stuffed up... doing my first lager and chucked in 1 x Saflager S-23 into 20 litres. Reading the packet says I should've used 2 or 3 sachets. Should I pop into LHBS tomorrow for a couple of packs and chuck more in tomorrow arvo?

Beer will turn out OK, but if you want to give it every best chance to be an excellent beer then yes get the additional yeast. Being your first lager might be worth leaving it with 1 sachet so next time make the same brew and use 2-3 packs so you can taste the difference.

11 degrees. Raise it or let it be?
Am I crazy, or do I get a whiff of truffles off Northern Brewer hops?

I get all kinds of crazy aromas from hops. I assume many of them are more about my nose than the hops.

Depends on your malts. I always get tea with US NB.
1st runnings into my Sunday morning coffee sounded good in my head, doesn't really change the coffee all that much.

A riveting article on how to go camping... why do I still have a subscription to Beer & Brewer?

Maybe it's a plug for Aldi's Rivet lager.
Forgot to put the falsie in the eksy before adding hit water and ALL the grain :-( Used a rubber glove to add the falsie but there's a lot of grain sitting under it.

Things seemed to work out OK in the end. The first turn of the tap resulted in a stick sparge. Cleared that and it was fine after that.
