Smoked Porter aka (sch)Porter

Porter - Robust Porter
All Grain
- - - - -

Brewer's Notes

I am on tank water, so added 5g Gypsum + 5g Calcium Carbonate to the mash (CalCarbonate not in the RecipeDB!)

Mashed @ 68C. First use of my new HERMS and a bloody nice beer!
Ended up fermenting with S-189 so I suppose it's a hybrid Rauch/Porter.......... Fermented out in 4 days @ 9C when thrown on a fresh yeast cake!!! Grain to Brain in 7 days. Filtered, and a perfect dark amber blackness..... Will brew again!

Was editing Pete....try looking now, should be complete... Farkin' nice beer too!

Just browsing through the recipe DB getting ideas. This says you mashed at 78. Is that a typo?

It must be 68, otherwise it would be mightly low on alcohol and mighty high in unfermentables! ;)

Looks tasty, any pics in the glass Nick?

Definite typo mate, obviously one too many of these before posting! This beer is my (sch)Porter that Chappo can't seem to get enough of!

No pics ATM sorry Raven, but will pour off a pint sometime soon to assess carbonation on the current batch.....

Cheers

PS: have fixed up the typo in the recipe too!
