After 18 months of home brewing, this is my first all grain brew - brewed this on saturday and I can't wait to get this out of the fermenter and into my belly!

I started out making a guiness clone, but decided that I can't simply copy someone else's recipe so I made a few small adjustments to make it my own. All went well until I got to the sparge - all the flaked barley and oats glued things up. This will need rice hulls if I do it again.

After chilling wort, I transferred to fermenter with minimal splashing - I am still trying olive oil as a substitute for aeration. It took about 12 hours for evidence of fermentation, a bit slower than normal, but this could be because its now getting colder in Melbourne.

Basically not much harder than the partial mashes I've been doing, I'm never going back!
